Equality statement

At Colmore Junior School, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable environment where every pupil, staff member, and member of our community feels valued, respected, and empowered. We believe that diversity enriches our school and strengthens our community, and we actively work to create a culture that promotes fairness, respect, and opportunity for all.

In line with the principles of the Equality Act 2010, we strive to ensure that every pupil, regardless of their background, identity, or personal circumstances, has access to the highest quality education and the support they need to reach their full potential. Our school embraces and celebrates differences in race, ethnicity, gender, religion, ability, and socio-economic status, and we are dedicated to removing barriers to learning and participation.

Through our policies, practices, and curriculum, we aim to build a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where everyone has a voice, and where kindness, empathy, and respect are at the heart of all we do. We are committed to challenging inequality, promoting tolerance, and preparing our pupils to become responsible, active members of a diverse global society.

  • Using materials that reflect the diversity of the school, population and local community without stereotyping
  • Promoting attitudes and values that challenge any discriminatory behaviour or prejudice
  • Providing opportunities for pupils to appreciate their own culture and celebrate the diversity of other cultures

  • Utilising teaching approaches appropriate for the whole school population which are inclusive and reflective of our pupils.
  • Upholding all of the principles of The United Nations’ Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and educating our pupils about their rights
